ALTERA ENIGMA 2008 UPDATE
Altera Enigma was always been an outlet for us all; a chance to do something different to the bands that we work in. By necessity, work for the band has had to fit in with whatever else we were doing in both our professional and personal lives. Even the band name explains this; “Altera: is Latin for “the second” or “the other one”. All the members of Altera Enigma are busily working on their primary bands, (Jeff is busy with Kekal, Jason and Jayson are in 3 bands, Kenny is in 2) and as such don't have a lot of time right now to work on the follow up to Alteration.
The album will take longer than initially expected, but it will happen. We will all keep working on new material for the second album as we have time, and it will be recorded as soon as possible. We will be working hard to make sure it is worth the wait.
In the mean time, check out the bands we are currently working on: InExordium | Kekal | Soundscape

Jayson Sherlock- Altera Enigma's NEW DRUMMER
Altera Enigma are pleased to announce that drummer Jayson Sherlock (ex-Mortification, ex-Paramaecium, inExordium, Soundscape) as the newest member of the band.
Jayson has had an amazing career as a musician and in joining Jason, Jeff and Kenny in Altera Enigma will bring his powerfully creative, complex, expressive and stunning technique to the band and push Altera Enigma's music to the next level.
Rehearsals in Australia with Jason, Kenny and Jayson have begun, and Jayson's first appearance will be on the next Altera Enigma album which is underway and expected to be released sometime in late 2007 or early 2008.
November 2006
Work has begun on the next Altera Enigma album. While the members are all busy, and Jason and Jeff are focusing on their other bands at the moment (see below for more detail), they are working on new material and are dedicated to getting the next ALTERA ENIGMA album done. The plan at this early stage is to have the new album ready for release by late 2007. The album will feature some amazing additional musicians making guest appearances, and will continue to push the boundaries of what people expect from a progressive band and from ALTERA ENIGMA!
Jeff and Jason have been busy with their other bands, Kekal and Paramaecium.
Kekal have completed their new album entitled "The Habit Of Fire", which is due out in 2007.
Jason's other band Paramaecium, have played their final show at NordicFest in Oslo, and the band is now officially finished. This was the last opportunity to see Paramaecium songs performed live. As of 2007 the members will be forging on with a new style, new material, with a new band name, and will no longer play the old Paramaecium songs live. The lineup will remain as it is today with Andrew Tompkins on bass and vocals, Jason De Ron on guitar and Jayson Sherlock on drums. The new band name is inExordium. (www.inexordium.com) Look for a DVD release from Paramaecium's final shows and the new album by inExordium in 2007.

Some of the latest reviews of Altera Enigma debut album Alteration:
Alteration has received 90/100 from The Whipping Post magazine. In part is says:
"Right from the start you can tell that this disc is different and yet special . . . If you are a big progressive metal or progressive rock fan, you should definitely check this band out. And the lead guitar work...simply breathtaking. It is sometimes like a vocal itself as it pours so much emotion into the songs. These guys (which also includes Kenny Cheong on bass) are almost too talented for their own good."
German website Powermetal.de has reviewed Alteration and has said:
" The longer you listen to this album, the more absorbed you become. ' NGC 3370 ' for example offers a breath-taking interaction of jazz keyboards and Heavy Metal guitars, which is unexpected but works very well! . . . [The song Enigmatic Alteration] holds the listeners attention up to the end . . . and contains great Lead Guitar. This did not surprise me really, because Jason De Ron and Jeff Arwadi are, in my opinion, outstanding artists, who have already proved their talent."
Argentinian metal site Del Otro Lado Metal has also reviewed the album:
"Alteration" turns out to be an excellent example of when true musicians dare to make something different, and do it well. Within the progressive realm of music it seems to us one of the most interesting and original albums. Amazing Work!"
Jeff and Kekal are hard at work on their latest album "Acidity". Altera Enigma members Jason and Kenny were asked by Kekal to make a guest appearance, and have recorded their contributions. Jason recorded a guitar solo and some rhythm guitar overdubs, while Kenny added some impressive bass work. For more information on Kekal head to their website www.kekal.org
